The RS entity recognized and confirmed the genocide in Srebrenica through the results of the commission formed by the RS entity government

(Patria) - The international expert team of the Institute for Genocide Research Canada has once again, ahead of the adoption of the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica at the UN General Assembly, reviewed the research of the RS entity government from 2004 and 2005, that is, the Commission for Srebrenica and the eponymous working group on the events in and around Srebrenica from July 10 to 19, 1995.

The aforementioned research results are historically significant from the perspective of Holocaust and genocide research because it is an authentic report that objectively, truthfully, independently, and completely impartially confirms and proves the crime of genocide in the area of the UN protected zone, Srebrenica, in 1995.

At the time of this recognition of genocide, the president of the RS entity was Dragan Čavić, and the prime minister of the entity government when the Commission was formed was Dragan Mikerević, while at the time of the adoption of its report, the prime minister was Pero Bukejlović. When Milorad Dodik assumed his second term as president of the entity government on February 28, 2006, he realized that the aforementioned Commission report, in which genocide was recognized, burdened the RS entity more than all the verdicts handed down in international courts and the Court of BiH.

They found an alibi for rejection in the claim that this commission prepared its report under pressure from the then High Representative Paddy Ashdown, which is not true. Ashdown did demand the formation of this commission, but he neither participated in its work nor pressured its members on how to work and what kind of report to adopt and present to the entity government. Moreover, in addition to the High Representative, the establishment of this commission was also requested by the Human Rights Chamber within the Constitutional Court of BiH, at the request of the relatives of the murdered Srebrenica victims.

The commission consisted of seven members: five Serbs, one Bosniak, and a British diplomat.

The facts that the Commission uncovered undoubtedly have historical importance, and those who wish to learn the true truth about the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica will always return to them. The Commission reconstructed the events in and around Srebrenica from July 10 to 19, 1995, and based on its own research, comprehensively considered the outcome, establishing that over 8,000 Bosniaks were liquidated in a few days, thereby committing serious violations of international humanitarian law, including genocide.

When the Commission for Srebrenica completed its work, the RS government in 2005, within the framework of these research results, formed a special working group to implement the conclusions from its final report. The group members were six Serbs and one Bosniak, and they established a final report on which persons, commands, units, and institutions of the VRS, MUP, and Ministry of Defense of the RS, as well as the then Yugoslav Army and MUP of the Republic of Serbia, including persons employed in the security structures of the RS entity and the state of BiH, participated in the crimes of genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995. This list includes more than 22,000 persons with all data, from identity, through the units in which they served, to unique personal identification numbers, but the working group did not manage to complete these lists, because the RS government insisted on ending the research.

The establishment in the RS entity, when opposing the UN resolution, conceals the fact that their government in 2004, based on the report of the Commission it itself formed, recognized that genocide against Bosniaks occurred in Srebrenica from July 11 to 19, 1995.
