Energoinvest submits request: Will gas prices increase by 4.59%?

(Patria) - Energoinvest has submitted a request to the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry for approval of the correction and increase of the wholesale price of natural gas for the second quarter of 2026 in the amount of 4.59%.

The proposed price is 865.40 KM for 1,000 Sm³, which represents a minimal increase compared to the previous quarter, despite the fact that current prices on European markets are up to 20% higher. At the same time, Energoinvest managed to maintain prices at the January level during March, thereby further protecting citizens and the economy in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from sharp market fluctuations and high growth on global markets that we are witnessing.

The price correction is a result of the increase in the purchase price from suppliers, caused by global gas and oil price movements. However, thanks to the business model that includes long-term contracts, quarterly pricing, and linkage to the oil formula, the Bosnian and Herzegovinian market remains significantly more stable compared to most European markets.

"At a time when European exchanges are recording significant growth, a difference of 20% in favor of the domestic market clearly shows the effect of our management model. We have managed to maintain stable prices even during periods of greatest pressure, including March when prices in European countries went up by over 70%, thus further protecting citizens and the economy. Supply stability and a competitive price should be an additional incentive for new users, as well as support for the efforts of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to mitigate energy shocks on the population and the economy," said Mirza Ustamujić, Director of Energoinvest, N1 reports.

The proposed increase has a limited impact on end-users. For households, a minimal effect on bills is expected, further mitigated by seasonally lower consumption, while the economy retains more competitive energy prices compared to most European markets.

Energoinvest will continue to actively manage procurement and prices in the future, with the aim of preserving market stability and security of supply in conditions of significant global turbulence, it was announced from Energoinvest.
