(Patria) - Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo company issued a statement this evening after the Sarajevo-Gas company from East Sarajevo announced this afternoon that due to a malfunction, gas supply to Sarajevo would be interrupted at midnight.
"On 25.02.2025 at 16:49, we were informed by Sarajevo-Gas a.d. East Sarajevo that the said entity will carry out an interruption of natural gas supply, i.e., an interruption of gas transport, due to alleged urgent works at the Block Station in Snagovo.
What is indicative is that the said letter announced that due to the alleged urgent works, the transport interruption would occur from Wednesday, 26.02.2025 at 00:00 to Thursday, 27.02.2025 at 00:00.
We also note that the notification of the interruption of natural gas supply, published on the website of Sarajevo-Gas a.d. East Sarajevo, states that the employees of this company will not be able to repair the malfunction and restore natural gas supply before midnight on 27.02.2025 due to a public rally and support for the institutions of Republika Srpska, which is being held on 25.02. and 26.02.2025 in Banja Luka.
Given the fact that according to the valid regulations (Law on Gas, Rules of Operation of the Natural Gas Transport System, Regulation on Security of Supply and Delivery of Natural Gas in Republika Srpska), the transport system operator is obliged to immediately take measures within its jurisdiction to eliminate malfunctions, such actions indicate that: (a) there are no extraordinary events, or (b) Sarajevo-Gas a.d. East Sarajevo intentionally does not want to repair the malfunction, if a malfunction exists at all.
Considering all of the above, Energoinvest company has submitted a Request to the competent inspection for the urgent undertaking of appropriate measures within its jurisdiction, in accordance with Article 127 of the Law on Gas of Republika Srpska, i.e., a letter to the BiH Prosecutor's Office regarding the aforementioned, in order to determine whether it is indeed an extraordinary malfunction and whether the actions of Sarajevo-Gas a.d. East Sarajevo are in accordance with valid regulations or if there has been a gross abuse.
An interruption of gas supply, such as this one, will cause damages to customers in Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that will be measured in tens of millions of KM to the population and industry, as well as lead to difficulties in the operation of public entities (hospitals, schools, etc.).
We note that once again, Energoinvest d.d. company has taken all actions in accordance with valid legal acts, respecting and fully trusting in the work of all competent institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina involved in this case," stated the Public Relations Department of Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo.
