Energoinvest: Gathering key partners in BiH and the region in the process of saving and developing Nova Željezara Zenica

(Patria) - Energoinvest d.d. Sarajevo announced today that it is gathering key partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in the process of saving and developing Nova Željezara Zenica.

Following participation in the major international Three Seas conference in Dubrovnik, where the intergovernmental agreement on the Southern Interconnection was signed, the Energoinvest delegation continued its activities during the 41st International Scientific-Business Conference in Opatija.

On the sidelines of this conference, a series of meetings were held with key partners from the region, whose role will be of particular importance in the process of restructuring, consolidation, and future revitalization of Nova Željezara Zenica.

During the meetings, issues concerning the challenges faced by the industrial sector were discussed, as well as opportunities for creating new business models that would enable long-term production stabilization, preservation of logistics and transport flows, and protection of jobs related to the entire economic system.

We remind you that Energoinvest representatives previously held meetings with representatives of the Development Bank of FBiH, Railways of FBiH, and representative trade unions, during which activities and the vision for the future development and stabilization of Nova Željezara Zenica were presented.

An important aspect of the entire process is also the official letter from the Management of Luka Ploče d.d., delivered to Energoinvest after the meetings, expressing support for activities aimed at preserving the business of Nova Željezara Zenica and the stability of the economic system of FBiH.

The letter states, among other things, that preserving steel production and the business stability of Željezara Zenica goes beyond the significance of a single economic entity, and that it is an important industrial system whose operations directly affect the railway, logistics, and transport sectors, as well as overall economic stability and job preservation in the region.

The Management of Luka Ploče emphasized their readiness to continue discussions and define sustainable models of cooperation of mutual interest, with the conviction that through a partnership approach, institutional support, and mutual understanding, quality and long-term solutions can be found.

- These are not discussions held only for one company. These are discussions about preserving the industrial backbone of Bosnia and Herzegovina, about people, families, knowledge, and the future of the domestic economy.

The readiness of all partners to act together and show how the economy and the region can support each other when it is most needed is particularly encouraging.

These discussions are further enhanced by the fact that these are partners of strategic importance for the logistics and transport processes necessary for the future operation of Željezara, especially when it comes to the delivery of key raw materials and intermediate goods for production needs.

Today, we see a clear readiness from all involved parties to take an additional step to ensure this story has a future, to initiate new economic development, and to preserve jobs, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also in the countries of the region, including the Republic of Croatia.

In the coming period, Energoinvest will continue its activities in gathering domestic and regional partners with the aim of creating a sustainable industrial model that will enable a new development perspective for Nova Željezara Zenica and the entire economic system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
