ELECTRONIC PROCEDURE War veterans in Sarajevo Canton get medical aids more easily

(Patria) - The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton is successfully implementing the verification of electronic RVI-04 prescriptions for war veterans, which represents a very significant relief for this population.

According to the relevant ministry, until now, RVI beneficiaries had to go through multi-step administrative procedures to exercise their right to medical aid: from a referral from their family doctor, through a specialist, the Sarajevo Canton Health Insurance Fund, the Ministry of Health, and specialized stores, which often required several days of movement and submission of personal documents. Many, due to complications and their health condition, gave up on their rights.

The new electronic procedure drastically reduces the bureaucratic burden. Namely, the RVI patient now only goes to a specialist, after which they directly pick up the medical aid at a specialized store of their choice, while all administrative procedures are carried out electronically, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton and the Sarajevo Canton Health Insurance Fund.

"This system not only saves the users' time and effort but also reduces the possibility of abuse of RVI status, duplication of approvals, and malversations. The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton has connected all relevant institutions and registers – from specialized stores, health centers, the Clinical Center, the Faculty of Dentistry with the dental clinical center, pharmacies, to the RVI Sarajevo Canton register – into a unified electronic system. Despite numerous challenges, we persevered to ensure a quality, faster, and safer service for our RVI patients," state the relevant ministry.
