Efendić: I think I will be the SDA candidate for mayor, I wouldn't take Sebija as an associate

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - I don't think there is any reason why I shouldn't be nominated. There is no reason why, due to all the results we have in Novi Grad, SDA should not nominate such a candidate and go with someone else, said the current mayor of Novi Grad municipality, Semir Efendić, in a conversation with Senad Hadžifejzović tonight.

"I have no intention of applying as an independent. I have a great responsibility towards everything that has been started and the major projects in Novi Grad. I think I will be the SDA candidate," said Efendić.

When asked about the "Asim" affair, Efendić said that SDA would be better off without Asim Sarajlić and that he expects the party bodies to clearly state their position on the case.

He also emphasized that he is still waiting for the party's decision regarding the appeal against the election process for the president of the Sarajevo Canton SDA, which he lost. To recall, Efendić, the day after the election for the head of the Sarajevo Canton SDA, which he lost to Fikret Prevljak, released an audio recording where the main actor is Sarajlić, who promised to "finish the votes" and a job for the wife of a delegate, and also spoke about some other processes and mentioned the party president Bakir Izetbegović as having participated in lobbying for Prevljak. Izetbegović stated a few days ago in a television interview that the election commission's report on that appeal would be considered at the beginning of June, but not that the election would be annulled or called into question.

When asked by Hadžifejzović if he would propose Sebija Izetbegović as an associate in the Sarajevo Canton SDA, because he believes she lacks political skill, Efendić stated that he would not. Responding to the host's remark that he wouldn't remain in SDA after this, Efendić said that "it would be better to stay."
