(Patria) - The President of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Semir Efendić, announced yesterday through the media and then confirmed his candidacy for the BiH Presidency member from the Bosniak people.
In his explanation for the candidacy, Efendić stated that SBiH believes that if the 'Trojka' candidate wins the elections for the BiH Presidency member, then the 'Trojka' will remain in power with the help of HDZ and SNSD.
On the other hand, the 'Trojka' parties have already rallied around Denis Bećirović, who has also received the support of some smaller parties, so the formation of 'Trojka plus' is already emerging.
Factually speaking, we now have a united government around Denis Bećirović and 'Trojka plus', and a divided opposition, SDA, DF, and SBiH, which is going into the elections with its candidates in three separate columns...
The Democratic Front previously nominated Slaven Kovačević as a candidate from the Croat people, which seems logical in an attempt to prevent HDZ, just as it is logical for the largest Bosniak national party (SDA) to offer its candidate.
Such an outcome would lead to a confrontation between the pro-'Trojka' and anti-'Trojka' political blocs.
However, Semir Efendić's candidacy shatters this political polarization into FOR and AGAINST 'Trojka', and divides the opposition, anti-'Trojka' voter base into three.
The biggest beneficiaries in all of this are 'Trojka' and HDZ, who can now be extremely relaxed, while DF, as a representative of civic politics, and SBiH, as a representative of pro-civic politics, lose the most.
Semir Efendić's hasty candidacy is not only not an obstacle to 'Trojka', HDZ, and SNSD remaining in power, as stated in the rather bizarre statement from the Party for BiH, but quite the opposite.
Why Semir Efendić embarked on such an adventure with uncertain consequences for his reputation at this moment is not entirely clear.
What is clear is the elation with which it was received in the pro-regime 'Trojka' media outlets, which until yesterday spared no criticism of Efendić.
In terms of political relations, Efendić is returning to 'Trojka' with this move.
