Edna Bašagić wins silver at the World Karate Cup in Poreč

(Patria) - Edna Bašagić won a silver medal at the World Cup tournament for under-12s in kata held in Poreč.


The competitor from the "Respect" Karate Club from Sarajevo was defeated in the final match by Slovenia's representative Anđela Miljatović, while she left her peers from Canada and France behind.

"Edna Bašagić and coach Teodora Perić achieved historic success for Bosnia and Herzegovina by winning a silver medal at one of the strongest world karate competitions.


This is also the first medal from the World Cup in Poreč in kata for the Canton of Sarajevo. The curiosity is the fact that no competitor from the Canton of Sarajevo in the children's age group in the kata discipline has ever won a medal at the most prestigious competition of the World Karate Federation," announced the "Respect" Karate Club.


The club adds that they expect Edna Bašagić to win her first medals at European and World Championships in kata in the coming period.
