SARAJEVO, (Patria) - 2020 was a particularly difficult year for children suffering from cancer and their families. It brought great struggles, new fears. In addition to the fight against cancer, they also faced a new battle, balancing on the edge between the coronavirus and their fragile health. It required a lot of sacrifice and strength to remain as strong as possible to cope with both problems, but it also required a lot of love and support from society and good people.

The association "Heart for children suffering from cancer" has been there for them all the time with the help of its friends and donors. Holidays are always a special time of year when everyone feels excitement for the new year, new challenges, and the beauty it brings. Holidays are a time of giving, love, support, and special emotions. Holidays are an opportunity to brighten someone's moment, day, or life.

Thus, these holidays were special for children suffering from cancer, as they received special attention from their great friends Edin and Amra Džeko. Edin and Amra are always there when needed, on good days and bad. They are a support and always bring love with them. Although the pandemic prevented them from being there physically, they did not allow the pandemic to prevent them from showing that they care and are concerned all the time. For these holidays, they prepared and sent gifts for the little ones being treated in the hematology-oncology departments in Sarajevo and Tuzla, and they sent a video message to each of them expressing sadness that they could not visit them, but also offering words of support and love.

The joy and excitement of the little ones could not be hidden. This act of love caused them happiness, joy, elation, and brought countless smiles. A smile is ultimately the only thing that counts, because making a child smile in the darkest days, days when they are fighting for their lives, is something priceless. After this gesture, the children gained new momentum. They look forward to the moment when the pandemic passes and they will have the opportunity to meet their friends Edin and Amra in person.
