ROME, (Patria) - Captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team Edin Džeko is getting closer to leaving Roma, at least according to Italian media.
Gazzetta dello Sport in its today's issue writes that the transfer of Džeko and Emerson Palmieri is practically a done deal.
However, there is a mixed mood among the players. While the Brazilian is happy about the transfer, the captain of the BiH national team is quite disappointed by the decision of the Roman club, reports Sportske.
Džeko wanted to stay in the Italian capital, but he was angered by the news that he was put on the list of players for sale, which he told his closest friends in Italy and BiH, claims Gazzetta.
Corriere dello Sport writes that Džeko will not be included in the squad for Wednesday's match at all, when Roma will visit Sampdoria in a postponed game.
According to the Roman newspaper, Chelsea will send a new offer in the coming hours to convince Roma to sell Džeko, who is expected to arrive in London in a package with Emerson Palmieri for a sum between 55 and 60 million, including bonuses.
Corriere dello Sport states that Džeko has already informed his national teammates that the transfer to Chelsea is very close, the first contacts were made on Friday, and will continue during the week.
Roma halted negotiations on Friday due to last night's match against Inter, and they will be resumed in the coming days.
