Džumhur: I prayed to God that Nadal wouldn't retire, I dedicate the victory to my family and BiH

I don't want my victory to be diminished because Nadal retired, especially since I know how much emotion, strength, and energy I invested in this match - says Damir Džumhur, the tennis player who is the central figure in BiH tonight, writes the Patria News Agency.

- I met Novak Đoković after the match and he told me that I must be proud of myself, because Nadal had never retired a match before in his career. And I am, I am proud. I did something great. I fought and gave my all to win - says Džumhur, adding:

- I felt unwell too. The heat is unbearable, but I thought that maybe I wouldn't have another chance to play against Nadal and I continued. I gathered my strength and played better and better, and in the end, I celebrated the victory. After all, Nadal only fell in the third set, and until then, we were fighting hard for every point. I was emotionally and physically exhausted. I prayed to God that Nadal wouldn't retire, that he would finish the match, even if he lost, but whoever beats Nadal must be satisfied. I am proud of myself, of my fans, and I dedicate this victory to my family and all those fans who believe in me, and of course, to my country - emphasized Džumhur after the great victory over Rafael Nadal.
