(Patria) - BiH's top tennis player Damir Džumhur held a press conference in Sarajevo today, where, among others, his father Nerfid also spoke about the locations for the exhibition match between Damir and Novak Đoković, which was planned for July 5, but was cancelled due to infections among players who participated in the Adria Tour.
"Damir suggested to Novak that the match be played at the courts of the Tenis-centar Koševo, because he is emotionally attached to the place where he started his tennis career," said Damir's father Nerfid Džumhur.
Džumhur said he was very sorry that they did not manage to organize the exhibition match in Sarajevo.
"It's not up to me, nor Novak, but simply due to the fact that corona entered the Adria Tour and the continuation of the tournament was cancelled, and thus our match. Novak had a great desire to come to Sarajevo, we had been planning it for years and I am sure it would have been a great spectacle. For me, it would be a huge thing to host the best tennis player in the world and one of the greatest athletes of today in my city," said Damir.
If the US Open and the entire American tour are cancelled, that match might be played this year.
"I want to play, I love to compete, and I hope we will use the opportunity that arose due to the cancellation of many tournaments for such a match," added Damir.
