Damir Džumhur, BiH tennis player, and Džanan Musa, BiH basketball player, visited the Cantonal Hospital "Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić" in Bihać today, writes Patria.
Damir decided to financially support the renovation of the operating rooms in the part of the hospital that burned down three years ago.
Three years have passed since the Cantonal Hospital "Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić" in Bihać was severely damaged in a fire. The event alarmed the entire BiH public at the time, and many government and non-governmental institutions, associations, and individuals, as well as donors, promised significant assistance to renovate the hospital as soon as possible and put it back into operation. However, as is often the case, a lot of talk and promises, and little concrete action.
On that fateful night, from July 25 to 26, 2013, a fire, for reasons yet to be determined, started in the attic of the main hospital building, spreading to the most important departments in this facility: operating rooms, laboratory, microbiology, radiology, pediatric surgery, complete diagnostics, abdominal surgery. The hospital's capacity was visibly reduced: from 680 beds they had at the time, they dropped to 450 beds. Instead of four operating rooms, there are now two, located in the neurology department. The damages were estimated at 1.3 million KM at the time.
