Džindić: 25,000 workers in 27 companies will keep their jobs, defense industry operating at full capacity

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Nermin Džindić, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry in the FBiH Government, stated that the energy system is stable and secure.

"We are working according to plans defined back in 2019 without any delays. All mines and thermal power plants are functioning without a single minute of downtime and have sufficient coal reserves, and electricity production is proceeding according to plan," said Džindić, who thanked the miners who have been working continuously for 14 days and are in a certain isolation for the next 14.

"Regarding the production and distribution of electricity, there has been a 4% decrease in industry, and about a 4% increase in households. As for gas, delivery and distribution are stable. BH Gas has made a decision to reduce the price for industry. There are elements for another calculation to reduce the price for households," said Džindić.

The Minister emphasized that around 3,000 workers are employed in the defense industry in FBiH, and that all companies except Pretis went into isolation after the Konjic cluster.

"We have all economic entities returning to full capacity, and they are all producing and working. The entire defense industry is operating at full capacity. We have used this time to procure protective equipment, while some companies have reoriented their work to produce visors and masks," said the Minister.

He stated that 25,000 workers are employed in 27 economic entities under the jurisdiction of this ministry, and that not a single job is in question.

"All these 25,000 will remain employed, and together with them, we will overcome this situation. We had to change and adjust some of our plans for the defense industry slightly because some of our suppliers and customers were also closed. If this does not last long, we will fulfill all our plans by the end of the year," said Džindić.
