Two bronzes and a commendation for BiH national team at the 32nd Balkan Informatics Olympiad

(Patria) - The BiH national team participated in the 32nd Balkan Informatics Olympiad (BOI 2025), held from September 25 to October 1 in Udine, Italy.

BOI is one of the most significant regional competitions in algorithms and programming for high school students, bringing together the best young IT talents from the Balkans and guest countries.

Competitors spend two days solving challenging algorithmic problems, and winning medals at BOI is often a precursor to top results at European and international informatics olympiads, representing an important step in talent development.

A total of 67 competitors from 18 countries participated in this year's BOI, with the BiH national team represented by:

• Mirza Bušatlić (Second Gymnasium Sarajevo) - bronze medal;
• Faruk Demirović (Fifth Gymnasium Sarajevo) - bronze medal;
• Farah Demirović (Fifth Gymnasium Sarajevo) - commendation;
• Alen Avdibegović (Second Gymnasium Sarajevo).

Two bronze medals and a commendation are a strong indicator that IT talents are continuously being developed in BiH and that our educational and competitive system is yielding results on the international stage.

The selection and preparation, as well as the travel of the competitors to BOI 2025, were organized by the Informatics Olympiad Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IOBIH).

This association has been coordinating the participation of our national teams in international informatics olympiads for many years and systematically works on talent development among young people (https://www.bhoi.ba).

The national team was led by Ali Husić and Luka Trtić on behalf of IOBIH, who provided support to the students throughout the competition.

At the end of the month, the junior national team of BiH will travel to Cyprus to participate in the Junior Balkan Informatics Olympiad (JBOI 2025).
