The lawyer of Dragan Đurić, accused of the murder of Tijana Jurić, said that his client admitted to the crimes and that the length of the sentence is now in question, writes "Blic", reports the news agency Patria.
He also added that he requested the recusal of the court, i.e., that the trial be moved from Subotica, because he believes the court is biased, under public pressure, and that the court is expected to impose the maximum sentence, i.e., 40 years in prison.
The preparatory hearing in the trial of Dragan Đurić, suspected of raping and murdering the minor Tijana Jurić, was held at the Higher Court in Subotica.
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Subotica filed an indictment against the defendant Dragan Đurić with the Higher Court in Subotica on January 29, 2015.
The defendant and his defense attorney did not file an appeal against the text of the indictment within the prescribed eight-day period.
After that, the non-trial panel of the Higher Court in Subotica proceeded to examine the indictment, and it was legally confirmed.
The case was received on February 25, 2015, and assigned to the presiding judge, Gordana Kojić.
Judge Gordana Kojić set the date for the preparatory hearing on March 12, 2015, and sent summonses to the defendant and the injured party and their attorneys.
