Slovenian President Borut Pahor hosted the Mayor of Srebrenica Municipality Ćamil Duraković and Munira Subašić, President of the Association "Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa", today, and Pahor will be one of the speakers in Srebrenica on July 11, when the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica will be commemorated, writes the BiH news agency Patria.
Duraković said that President Pahor is the first to publicly confirm his arrival in Srebrenica. The invitation to be one of the speakers was extended to him as an expression of gratitude for the positive role that both Slovenia and Pahor have played in the past period and for providing support to the victims of the war in BiH.
Pahor thanked Duraković and emphasized that it would be a great honor for him to address the audience in Srebrenica on July 11.
- Slovenia is a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we must make every effort to preserve the memory of the horrors that should not be forgotten so that they are never repeated - said Pahor.
Munira Subašić presented the activities of the Association since its founding in 1996, and emphasized that, despite the horrors they have survived, their goal is always respect for diversity and joint dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
- Only in this way will it be possible to create a common future for our children and grandchildren - said Subašić.
Otherwise, Duraković told Patria that all presidents of states who come to Srebrenica on July 11 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the genocide will address the audience. The arrival of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović, and President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov has been confirmed so far. The arrival of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić has not yet been confirmed.
