Dunović hosted representatives of the BiH Futsal Team for people with diabetes

The Vice President of the Federation of BiH, Milan Dunović, hosted representatives of the BiH Futsal Team for people with diabetes today. The team manager of the national team, Saša Vitković, deputy captain Neir Šahbaz, and goalkeeper Miran Gvozdić thanked the Vice President for the reception and presented their work and impressive results to date.

Namely, they debuted last year and this year hosted the DiaEuro championship, one of the largest diabetes events in Europe. The futsal championship is part of the DiaEuro event, a project of the umbrella organization for diabetes in Europe (IDF Europe), which was held in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo under the slogan “Sport and diabetes can go together”.

The BiH national team players became European champions at the aforementioned championship, competing against 16 national teams from around the world. They point out that, unfortunately, their success and results have not attracted much public attention in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that representatives of institutions in our country have not shown interest in helping them.

By establishing this national team, the Association of Diabetological Societies of BiH wanted to draw attention to this disease, which affects more and more young people and children, but also to convey that it can be controlled through sports activities and a healthy lifestyle.

Vice President Dunović congratulated the national team representatives on the exceptional results they have achieved in the past year and expressed regret that the necessary support for their exceptional and hard work was lacking.

It is not only necessary to provide the national team with an equal financial status in the field of sports, but it is also necessary to give great recognition to people who, despite their illness, achieve incredible results representing our country. He believes that we, as a society, are responsible for this oversight and appeals to all institutions that are able to financially support the further work and survival of the BiH Futsal Team for people with diabetes.

Certain financial support for the further activities of the national team will also be allocated from the budget of the Cabinet of the Vice President of the FBiH, but unfortunately, it will not be a final solution to their problem unless other institutions also provide adequate help and support.
