Professor Milan Popović, editor-in-chief of the Montenegrin newspaper Monitor, Esad Kočan, and Democratic Front MP Koča Pavlović have filed a criminal complaint against the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, and the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offense of genocide, related to the case of Ibrahim Čikić, reports the BH news agency Patria (NAP).
The Basic Court in Bijelo Polje issued a verdict obliging Čikić to pay four thousand euros in compensation for emotional distress to the former warden of the Bijelo Polje prison, Luka Bulatović, and prison doctor Tom Karišik, because he mentioned them in the book "Where the Sun Doesn't Shine," in which Čikić described all the horrors experienced by Bosniaks in the Bijelo Polje prison in the early 1990s. Ibrahim Čikić himself experienced horrors in Montenegro simply because he is a Bosniak.
Professor Popović stated at a press conference that the criminal complaint was filed on September 11 this year and was made public later because they wanted to give the new Supreme State Prosecutor (VDT), Ivica Stanković, time and a chance to familiarize himself with the case.
However, Popović himself added that it is unlikely that this criminal complaint will yield results as long as Đukanović is in power in Montenegro.
During the 1990s, Bosniaks were expelled, abused, and killed in Montenegro, but the authorities led by Prime Minister Milo Đukanović have done almost nothing to shed light on these atrocities. Đukanović himself has never apologized for the suffering of Bosniaks in Montenegro, reports Patria.
