Long-time US Senate Republican Leader Bob Dole Presented with Key to the City of Sarajevo

(Patria) - Together with the Speaker of the City Council of Sarajevo Igor Gavrić, the Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka presented the Key to the City of Sarajevo to the former presidential candidate of the United States of America and long-time Republican leader in the Senate, Bob Dole, at a ceremony at his residence.

"The United States of America will help BiH, because you deserve it," Dole said, thanking them for the recognition.

The City Council of Sarajevo awarded this important recognition to Dole at Skaka's proposal.

"American Senator Bob Dole is one of the most important figures in building strong friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially Sarajevo as the capital city, and the United States of America.

If it weren't for the esteemed Senator Bob Dole, it is a big question how Bosnia and Herzegovina and its capital city would look today. It was with particular pleasure that I presented the keys to our city as a token of gratitude for everything Dole has done for our country, and he has done a lot," said Skaka.

The award was presented to Dole at a ceremony marking his 96th birthday.

During the conversation, the American senator stated that the US remains committed to the progress and development of BiH.

Skaka said that Dole very clearly and precisely publicly characterized the events in BiH as aggression and genocide. He added that his contribution as president of the International Commission on Missing Persons was immeasurable in the first years of the intensive search and identification of victims of war crimes.
