Years of Bad SDA Policy Come Due: Hypocritical Criticism of the Judiciary!

A. Čorbo-Zećo

The further legal procedure that follows in the case of Fadil Novalić, Prime Minister of the FBiH, Fahrudin Solak, suspended director of the Federal Civil Protection Administration, and Fikret Hodžić, owner of the company 'Srebrena malina', is in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office and the defense.

We have reached a stage where we must allow the three of them, as lawyers also warn, to defend themselves. There must be no expectation that they will be convicted, as that violates the presumption of innocence.

However, everything else now is what we knew, assumed, pressure on the judiciary from various sides.

The unacceptable attitude of the SDA leadership, especially Bakir Izetbegović and Šefik Džaferović, who is also a lawyer, causes damage and proves that they are shaken, but also afraid for themselves. There have been arrests and prosecutions of high-ranking SDA officials before, but not such emotionally charged reactions.

They are not so worried about Prime Minister Novalić; they could easily do without him. It is about the fact that their poor political actions have brought them to a dead end. The Party of Democratic Action and its leadership are at the mercy of the HDZ. To that extent, I can understand Izetbegović's unacceptable reaction, but as you sow, so shall you reap.

With them, the entire Federation, and then BiH, are in trouble. We have rarely seen such a degree of 'leniency' in politics. SIPA and the Prosecutor's Office are completely under the control of the HDZ, that is clear to ordinary citizens, but people at the top of politics cannot say that publicly.

Because if Izetbegović says that, why does he complain when Dragan Čović and Milorad Dodik talk, although they are now silent because they have control.

If the SDA were wise politicians and had looked after the state interest, not personal interest, they should have worked to remove political pressure, to appoint capable people, not suitable ones. But in political meltdowns, they cared about individuals, not institutions. Thus, it was more important to place Osman Mehmedagić in the Intelligence-Security Agency than capable people in positions they deserve.

As a colleague would say, 'HATS OFF, MASTERS: How the HDZ masterfully outmaneuvered the SDA (ab)using their greatest vice – thievery!'

The Party of Democratic Action and its thievery are now coming due for all citizens. We are in a blockade, ashamed, humiliated. In situations where the Prime Minister of the FBiH is unable to perform his function, his position is taken over by the first deputy, which in this case is HDZ's Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević, who becomes acting Prime Minister.

Given that the HDZ is blocking and will block the formation of a new FBiH Government, that the new Prime Minister of the Federation is appointed by the entity president, who in this case is HDZ's Marinko Čavara, and who can only be replaced by a decision of the House of Peoples, whose Croatian club is sovereignly managed by HDZ BiH, things here are quite clear.

Now arrests happen both when it is justified and when it is not. We expected a summons during the search, even the defense lawyers did, but it did not happen. Now, abruptly after giving a statement, unusual procedures were shown – they were deprived of liberty.

It is indisputable that the Prosecutor's Office works under political dictate, and not only now, but for years. Only the policies have changed. That is why the SDA's talk about political motives (although they certainly exist) now seems superficial and irritating. As they would say, the bad policy they pursued for years has come due.

Apparently seeing that they had gone too far, on the Preporod portal, Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović spoke out and said that 'no pressure should be exerted on the judiciary and that it is necessary to investigate all circumstances regarding any suspicious allegations.'

He emphasized that, at the same time, it must not be allowed for political battles to be waged through the judiciary and for the citizens of the FBiH to be left without leadership that has important work to finish, in order to preserve the entity and the state from the unforeseeable consequences caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

This statement is of course also controversial, but for citizens, the more controversial fact is that we have been under the leadership of the SDA for over 20 years, which amounts to being without leadership, as this latest case proves. And whenever I think it cannot get worse, they always surprise me and show that it can. Without any sense of statehood, without any vision, the SDA is dragging us to the bottom!
