State guarantee of 7 million euros for the district heating project in Prijedor

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, adopted a Decision on issuing a state guarantee under the Loan Agreement for the District Heating Project Prijedor between „Toplana“ a.d. Prijedor and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of 7 million euros with a sub-guarantee of the Republika Srpska, reports the Patria news agency.

This project will help Toplana Prijedor and the citizens of Prijedor in improving energy efficiency and sustainability of district heating in the city by constructing a new biomass district heating plant, which will use locally available biomass instead of heavy fuel oil.

With the implementation of the Project, energy costs would be reduced from the current 5.5 million BAM to about 2.1 million BAM. The project is expected to be completed by December 31, 2017.
