Donations of protective equipment and disinfectants for seven social welfare institutions in Sarajevo Canton

(Patria) - The Norwegian Government and the Government of Sarajevo Canton, with joint funds through UNDP, have realized and today officially handed over concrete assistance in protective equipment and disinfectants intended for seven cantonal public social welfare institutions.

The donation is directed at the most vulnerable social welfare institutions, making this assistance valuable in that regard. He once again thanked the UNDP representatives and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Government of Sarajevo Canton, which enables full transparency of spent funds, efficiency, as well as procurement from domestic producers whenever possible.

Since the declaration of the state of emergency, UNDP has been intensively working on providing support to competent domestic institutions through coordination of assistance and securing necessary resources.

Chargé d'affaires Andersen, on this occasion, stated that this donation is only part of the protective equipment that her Government has secured for BiH and the countries of the region.

"We managed to allocate certain funds through projects and signed a contract with UNDP in the total amount of 7.5 million kroner or 1.3 million KM for the procurement of medical and protective equipment," Andersen stated.

Incidentally, the Kingdom of Norway has so far financed the procurement of protective equipment for medical workers in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, while protective masks and medical equipment will be delivered to the Institute of Public Health of the Republika Srpska as early as next week. It has also secured funds for the procurement of six ventilators for clinical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Along with the management of the Gerontology Center, the handover of the donation, worth a total of 70,000 KM, was attended by the Chargé d'affaires of the Norwegian Embassy in BiH, Siri Andersen, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Mario Nenadić, and the Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, Jasna Agić.
