House of Peoples adopts amendments to the Law on the Southern Interconnection

(Patria) - The House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the amendments to the Law on the Southern Interconnection of BiH - Croatia in the same text adopted last week by the House of Representatives of the FBiH.

Delegates kept discussions to a minimum, given that today is the Day of the Army of the Republic of BiH, and that the session, as they said, could not be avoided, and that they could arrive at the commemorations of this important date.

The essence of the discussion boiled down to the fact that this law has shortcomings, but due to the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the short deadlines, and the situation in which the EU announced that from January 2028, the supply of Russian gas will be suspended, the delegates decided to support this legal solution.

During the discussion, it was stated that the issue of state property must be monitored and that state property must not be abused through this project. The importance of the branch towards Tuzla was highlighted, with a remark on the need to also build a branch towards the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton.

61 delegates voted for the Law, with one abstention and three against.

The Law enters into force on the eighth day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the FBiH.

The next phases of the project are up to the institutions of BiH, as it is necessary to also sign an agreement with the Republic of Croatia.
