(Patria) - The 9th session of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH has been scheduled for today in Sarajevo, starting at 12:00 PM.
Among other things, the agenda includes amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO), as well as the appointment of new members to the working bodies of the FBiH Parliament and several federal institutions.
If the House of Peoples votes for the amendments to the PIO Law and they come into effect, it will mean that a pensioner's pension will not be suspended upon earning additional income from occasional jobs.
The proposed amendments, already adopted by the House of Representatives, stipulate the right to disability pensions for beneficiaries who are not in mandatory insurance. Until now, this right was regulated only for family pensions.
Since beneficiaries of family pensions were capable of working, disability pension beneficiaries were excluded, and they are now included in the PIO Law through this amendment.
The amendment was made by deleting Article 116 of the PIO Law, which stipulated the suspension of pension payments in case of acquiring the status of an insured person in mandatory insurance, as this article was declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court of FBiH.
Within the item on elections and appointments, delegates are expected to vote today on a decision to appoint new members to the Energy Regulatory Commission of FBiH (FERK) for a five-year term: Samir Hadžihuseinović, Sanela Pokrajčić, and Vesna Marić.
If the delegates approve these appointments, the new FERK members will assume their duties upon the decision being published in the Official Gazette of FBiH, as it has already been adopted by the House of Representatives.
Delegates will also vote on introducing the institute of shortened voluntary liquidation proceedings ex officio, which was introduced in RS in 2019, and significantly shortens the duration and simplifies the liquidation procedure.
The agenda also includes the Strategy for the Prevention and Fight against Domestic Violence for the period 2024-2027, which has already been adopted by the House of Representatives. In this way, delegates will also express whether they want the Strategy to become the overarching strategic document for strengthening the institutional response to domestic violence and violence against women.
Furthermore, the agenda includes items related to decisions on initiating the development of regulatory plans for Štrbački Buk and the historic urban area of Jajce for a period of 10 years.
