(Patria) - Novak Djokovic won his eighth title at the Australian Open. The previous seven were already a record, and now the Serbian tennis player has raised the bar even higher.

In a very exciting five-set marathon final, Djokovic defeated Austrian Dominic Thiem – 6:4, 4:6, 2:6, 6:3, 6:4!

The first set saw several break points converted on both sides, before the Serbian player secured the crucial point in the tenth game to take a 1:0 lead.

Then followed a significant dip in the game of one of the greatest tennis players of all time, who became visibly nervous and even argued with the umpire. On the other hand, Thiem played brilliantly, made several great shots, and turned the match around to lead 2:1, writes scsport.ba.

Then Djokovic, as if nothing had happened, simply "restarted" and almost routinely won the fourth set (6:3) with one break.

The final showdown followed in the fifth set, which went in the Serbian player's favor from the third game, Djokovic made a break for 2:1. He then managed to hold his own serve until the end of the match and celebrate.

For the first time in his career, Novak Djokovic won a Grand Slam final after being down 1:2 in sets.
