Djokovic supported protests in Serbia, his stance picked up by numerous world media

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Novak Djokovic's message regarding the protests in Serbia could not go unnoticed in the world media.

Novak announced on Instagram with a photo from the protests due to the law on expropriation and referendum, which are – according to experts – “tailored” to the wishes of Rio Tinto and their mining project in the Jadar region.

Djokovic joined them with a short but clear message:

“Clean air, water, and food are the keys to health. Without them, every word about ‘health’ is superfluous,” Novak wrote on his account.

After that, he posted another photo with the addition:

“Nature is our mother. Let’s spend more time in nature. With it and by its side, our life is richer.”

Thousands of demonstrators blocked major roads across Serbia on Saturday as anger grew over the government’s plan to allow mining company Rio Tinto to extract lithium. In the capital, Belgrade, demonstrators gathered on the main highway and a bridge connecting the city with its suburbs, while the crowd chanted anti-government slogans, some holding signs criticizing the mining project. Smaller protests were held in other Serbian cities, with minor clashes between demonstrators and counter-demonstrators in Belgrade and Novi Sad, local media reported.
