Granting of concession for the construction of hydropower plants 'Podlugovi' and 'Ljubinići' in Ilijaš

(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton, by its conclusion, authorized the Ministry of Economy to negotiate with the business entity "Sarajevo International" d.o.o. Sarajevo in the process of granting a concession for the construction of hydropower plants "Podlugovi" and "Ljubinići" in the municipality of Ilijaš.

The Minister of Economy of KS Haris Bašić said on this occasion that he is pleased that for the first time in Sarajevo Canton, they have reached this final phase in the process of granting concessions related to hydropower projects.

"After all the procedures have been completed and the public interest declared, we are starting negotiations with the investor. These are significant investments, the construction value of these two small hydropower plants is 30 million KM. I believe we will conclude the negotiations positively, to the satisfaction of primarily the Canton and the local community, as well as the investor," Bašić said.

The deadline for negotiations is sixty days, after which the Ministry will inform the Government about the results of the conducted procedure.

The Government had previously, at a session held on June 27, 2019, based on the Law on Concessions, and the self-initiated offer for granting concessions by the business entity "Sarajevo International" d.o.o. and the completed procedure, made decisions on the existence of public interest for granting the concession for the construction and use of these two hydropower plants. In accordance with the decisions on the existence of public interest, concession award procedures are carried out through negotiations with the business entity.

According to the conceptual designs, both hydropower plants are designed on the Bosna River. For the "Podlugovi" hydropower plant, the projected installed capacity is 3.82 MW and the annual electricity production is 18.15 GWh, while for the "Ljubinići" hydropower plant, the projected installed capacity is 4.26 MW and the annual electricity production is 18.75 GWh.

The concession periods are set for 30 years each.
