Dodik in Srebrenica: Tolerance is present here

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik emphasized that the institutions of Republika Srpska will support Srebrenica in improving the quality of life and implementing development projects, and announced that there will be no salary reductions in the public sector, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Dodik pointed out that he is pleased that he discussed economic rather than political issues more with the Mayor of Srebrenica Municipality, Ćamil Duraković, and the President of the Municipal Assembly, Miloš Milovanović.

- We discussed the impossibility of collecting payment for submerged land from the Bajina Bašta Hydroelectric Power Plant, which has not settled these obligations for more than two decades. We have discussed this with the leadership of Serbia multiple times, and they accept this obligation, but the debts that need to be settled are large. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a mechanism for paying current obligations and to discuss and amicably resolve the issue of collecting debts.

Dodik proposed that the municipalities of Srebrenica, Višegrad, and Rogatica sue Elektroprivreda Srbije if an agreement and the beginning of settling these obligations do not occur in the near future.

Dodik announced that Republika Srpska will provide funds for the soon-to-be-repaired section of the regional road Srebrenica-Zeleni Jadar for better access to the industrial zone, as well as for better traffic safety, and that funds will be provided for the purchase of a specialized vehicle for the Srebrenica Health Center, which will be used to transport patients going for dialysis in Zvornik.

- I am pleased to have confirmed that the level of security here is high, that there have been no individual ethnic conflicts for many years. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska has been providing security for all gatherings for years when commemorating the anniversaries of suffering in this municipality, at which there have never been any incidents - said Dodik, adding that the RS police will also provide security for the anniversary of the suffering in Potočari on July 11 this year.

Dodik announced that the Government of Srpska will provide a certain amount of money for the commemoration of the anniversary of the suffering of Bosniaks on July 11.

- Despite the difficult past, tolerance is present in Srebrenica, and there is a high degree of agreement between Serbian and Bosniak representatives on most issues, especially on development plans. This indicates that Srebrenica is a place where it is possible to organize life and feel comfortable.

Mayor Ćamil Duraković emphasized that Dodik is a pragmatic politician who protects his principles and fulfills his promises, unlike many who often come here and "sell smoke." He pointed out that the security situation in the area of this municipality is good.

We remind you that before the meeting with the municipal leadership, Dodik visited Potočari, laid a wreath at the memorial, and paid tribute to the Bosniaks killed in the genocide in 1995.
