President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, addressing the deputies of the National Assembly, said he is withdrawing the proposed Draft Law on the Rights of Elected Representatives of Republika Srpska from 1991 to 1996, of which he was the proposer, reports the Patria news agency.
In his address to the deputies, Dodik emphasised that he is withdrawing the law from the procedure because he was affected by comments that the deputies of the first convocation do not deserve to be taken care of in this way.
-I am withdrawing the Draft Law from this session of the Parliament of Republika Srpska. If there is no consensus through a discussion that should later arise among all relevant factors in Republika Srpska regarding the constitution of a generally acceptable law, I will propose this same law again, because I believe it is necessary to regulate this period in this way, Dodik pointed out.
Dodik said from the parliamentary podium that he is ready to permanently renounce this compensation, because he himself is covered by this law, but, as he says, his constant concern is to resolve the material status of these people.
The President of RS said that instead of paying due respect, the wartime MPs have been put in the pillory these days, which they did not deserve.
The President of Republika Srpska proposed a monthly compensation of 800 KM for the deputies from the first convocation of the RS Assembly, that the compensation not be hereditary and that the wartime MPs receive it only during their lifetime. The money would not, as Dodik stated, come from the budget but from the pockets of the current deputies, ATV reported.
