Dodik announces he will propose Cvijanović for member of the BiH Presidency, RS opposition still undecided

(Patria) - All candidates for the member of the BiH Presidency elected from the territory of the BiH entity Republika Srpska are still unknown. According to the deadlines of the Central Election Commission, candidate lists are submitted from June 24 to July 6, 2026, meaning political entities still have some time to make decisions on candidates.

SNSD President Milorad Dodik announced on Saturday that he will propose that SNSD nominate Željka Cvijanović for another term in the BiH Presidency. The final decision will be made by party bodies.

The candidacy of Nebojša Vukanović, president of the List for Justice and Order, has been known for some time. Vukanović and the president of the PDP of Republika Srpska, Igor Crnadak, have registered a coalition with the Central Election Commission of BiH for the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

Crnadak will support Vukanović for the member of the BiH Presidency, while Crnadak will be the list holder in the Banja Luka electoral unit for the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

When it comes to the opposition in RS, there is still no final decision. Today, a meeting is being held in Banja Luka at the invitation of Draško Stanivuković, president of the Movement for a Secure Srpska (PSS), attended by the president of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Branko Blanuša and the president of the National Front (NF) Jelena Trivić.

The SDS bodies have decided that Blanuša will be the candidate for the president of Republika Srpska. He was also the opponent in the early elections against Siniša Karan, who won.

After today's opposition meeting, it may become clearer whether they can reach a final answer or whether each will go their own way in the General Elections.
