New Year's Eve celebration outdoors in front of the BBI Center will cost 76,000 KM, and the Centar Municipality has already transferred 10,000 KM to the Sarajevo City Administration as a co-financier of the project, writes the BH news agency Patria.
Although the City Administration announces that they are "finalizing negotiations for the organization of the Public New Year's Eve 2015 celebration," there is a justified suspicion that everything will be done at the last minute.
It is already mid-month, and there is still no celebration plan, nor are the names of those who should entertain Sarajevans on New Year's Eve known. Another emerging problem is financing, as the City of Sarajevo has lost financial support from the Canton, and the last installment of the planned 5,100,000 KM was paid in May. The Centar Municipality is so far the only one that has fulfilled its obligations to the organizer, writes Patria.
Although everything is still "up in the air," Ivo Komšić announces "an unforgettable fireworks display, a rich children's and central program."
- The City Administration will also propose to the bidders to organize shorter, appropriate events in the busiest streets of the city, starting from 12:00 PM on December 31st, such as colorful and unusual street performances, to make this year's celebration in the BiH capital unforgettable and unique for the citizens and guests of the city – it was announced from the City Administration, but it is not yet known who will realize these ideas of Sarajevo's leaders and who will pay for it.
And regardless of the lack of a clear vision, the City Administration announces that "in any case, when making the final decision, they will consider the attractiveness of the program, the safety of visitors, and strive to achieve the best value for money."
