Directors of Customs Administrations of Regional Countries Agree on Cooperation in Customs Regulations

A regional meeting of customs administrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro was held today in Belgrade. The meeting, at which future joint cooperation in the field of customs regulations was agreed, was led by Dr. Miro Džakula, Director of the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO), Miloš Tomić, Director of the Customs Administration of Serbia, Zlatko Grabar, Director of the Customs Administration of Croatia, and Vladan Joković, Director of the Customs Administration of Montenegro, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria. 

At the meeting in Belgrade, the Director of the UIO, Dr. Miro Džakula, presented the organization of the Indirect Taxation Authority and emphasized the importance of regional cooperation among customs administrations. 

“ In today's business conditions, there are absolutely no obstacles preventing our exchange of data and information from always being at least one step ahead of those whose primary task is to avoid paying obligations to the state,” Džakula said. 

He added that through better cooperation among the customs services of the region's countries, all regular taxpayers will gain the opportunity for easier and simpler dealings with state authorities.

As part of the meeting in Belgrade, the Director of the Customs Administration of Croatia, Zlatko Grabar, presented the challenges of the customs administration's accession to the European Union. In this regard, the application and adaptation of legislation, the introduction of new procedural systems and the establishment of e-Customs, as well as the reorganization of the entire customs service, were presented.

Following the meeting of directors of customs services at the level of four customs administrations, operational meetings and field activities will follow in the form of joint actions and training of mobile teams, cooperation in the field of risk analysis, and better control of VAT refunds in passenger traffic, it was announced from the UIOBIH.
