(Patria) - Director of the Health Centre of Sarajevo Canton Abel Baltić has resigned from this position, which will be considered by the new Management Board of the Health Centre, as the Government of Sarajevo Canton at yesterday's session dismissed the previous board members.
Baltić's resignation came after the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton at its session on 16 February did not adopt the Report on Work and Financial Operations for 2022. Only one delegate voted for the report, and it was not supported even by the SDP delegates in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly. Baltić took over the leadership of the Health Centre in 2021.
As he confirmed today to the media, he submitted his resignation due to the non-adoption of the report, considering it a moral obligation.
However, apart from the moral obligation due to the non-adoption of the report, Baltić did not distinguish himself in managing this institution. Numerous delegates during the discussion spoke about the inspection oversight that identified irregularities in health centres, the procurement of inadequate uniforms that cost nearly 400,000 KM, suspicious hirings at the Health Centre, staff shortages, and poor work organization.
Delegate Muamer Bandić of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina particularly emphasized that investigations are ongoing regarding the operations of the Health Centre of Sarajevo Canton and that court orders have been issued for the seizure of documentation. Also, Director Baltić personally chose the company that would use advertising billboards in health centres, while the previous contract was more favorable for the Health Centre.
