(Patria) - The security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina at this moment can be assessed as stable.
The Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, in cooperation with police and other agencies at the state, entity and cantonal level, continuously performs its regular tasks aimed at protecting VIPs, key state institutions, foreign diplomatic missions and other facilities of importance.
"All facilities that are in the security system of the Directorate are regularly protected based on updated security assessments, and special attention is paid to the protection of facilities and persons, with the adjustment of the level of security where necessary.
In the past few days, there has been increased interest from the public and international actors in internal security in BiH, which is why we consider it necessary to inform the public that there has been no threat to security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Law enforcement institutions regularly cooperate through usual communication and coordination of activities, carefully monitoring developments.
During today and the reports in some electronic media related to the work of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in the field office in Banja Luka and the SIPA headquarters in East Sarajevo, which are secured by the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, we can confidently inform the public that all activities in these facilities took place regularly and normally, and that no presence or other activities by citizens, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, or any other organization, aimed at the safety of SIPA officers and other agencies working in these facilities, were recorded.
Also, we inform the public that the Decision on the temporary closure of the Srebrenica Memorial Center – Potočari, which was made by the Governing Board of the Memorial Center, is of a preventive nature conditioned by political events, media reports, personal feelings and assessments, and is not based on a demonstrated act of threat by an individual, group, organization or institution.
The present political tensions do not exceed the level that would threaten the state of security and peace, and institutions function within their competencies.
In the coming period, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies will continue with regular activities, which include:
• Maintaining a high level of coordination, cooperation and communication between all police agencies in BiH;
• Continuing to monitor political and social developments, and taking adequate measures and actions to preserve a favorable security situation throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina with comprehensive security for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Further cooperation with international partners to maintain stability and security control.
Police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina actively cooperate with neighboring countries and international security organizations, which contributes to regional stability.
On this occasion, we also emphasize the responsible role and obligation of the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as all institutions and political representatives, to use precise, provable and confirmed information in their announcements and media appearances when assessing the security situation, and to correct their reports and rhetoric with the aim of preserving a favorable security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina," it was stated from the DKPT.
