(Patria) - Zenica Ironworks (now NŽZ) must not be neglected, especially not its workers, emphasize the Democratic Front Zenica.
"These topics must be discussed openly and responsibly, without diverting attention to secondary matters. Everything else should be put aside, because the status and dignity of the workers must come first.
Zenica Ironworks has an extremely significant importance for the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not just locally, but at the level of the entire country.
It participates with about 2.5% in the total GDP of BiH, which is a huge share for one company.
For years, it was one of the largest exporters from BiH, especially in the steel sector.
It generates hundreds of millions of KM through exports and turnover, thereby directly affecting the foreign trade balance.
It directly employs about 1,900 workers, and indirectly affects more than thousands of jobs. Each worker is not just a number; behind them stands a family, whether it is a family of three or four. This means that every decision and every problem at the Ironworks directly affects thousands of people, not just the employees.
It is connected with more than a hundred companies (transport, energy, logistics, raw materials).
It brings tens of millions of KM through taxes and contributions annually.
Its potential closure would mean: a decline in industrial production, a decrease in exports, an increase in unemployment, and a direct blow to the economic stability of the country," is the reaction from DF Zenica.
