DF appeals to KS MUP not to give up on providing services to Sarajevo football clubs

The Democratic Front Sarajevo Cantonal Board appeals to the KS MUP not to give up on providing services to Sarajevo football clubs in organizing home matches of the Premier League of BiH, reports the Patria News Agency.

- We consider it necessary for the parties in the dispute to immediately proceed with resolving their mutual problems. During the next week, the Speaker of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly and DF club member, Sejo Bukva, will invite representatives of the parties in the dispute to open negotiations on methods for resolving the problems. The financial situation in domestic sports is worrying. FK Olimpic, FK Sarajevo, and FK Željezničar are unable to pay the amount of the debt in the way they are being asked to.

Namely, it is a total of 860,000 KM that the clubs must pay, based on accumulated debts for match organization costs by the KS MUP, specifically: FK Olimpic 120,000 KM, FK Sarajevo 310,000 KM, and FK Željezničar 430,000 KM. The clubs do not dispute the debts but are seeking assistance in paying them. We believe that an out-of-court settlement should be pursued. Furthermore, it is necessary to grant the clubs a deferral of debt payment, the possibility of paying in installments according to an agreed schedule, possibly offsetting part of the debt, as well as applying other methods that will be presented at the meeting.

We also believe that the current legal solutions are insufficient and often disadvantage clubs, and that new legal solutions should be actively sought that would be fairer and enable clubs to have cheaper conditions for organizing matches, thereby providing one form of support for the development of sports in the Sarajevo Canton, which holds an important place in the policies of the Democratic Front as an activity extremely important for the development of children and youth.

The DF Sarajevo Cantonal Board primarily appeals to the KS MUP and other competent authorities to continue providing match security services to Sarajevo Premier League clubs under the previous agreement and not to threaten them with the cancellation of services, and thus the cancellation of matches, which could have further negative financial consequences for them.
