The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have officially borne this name since December 1, 2005, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).
They consist of three components (brigades), which are successors to the three armed forces active during the past aggression against BiH from 1992 to 1995: the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Croatian Defence Council, and the Army of Republika Srpska.
The BiH Armed Forces are commanded by the BiH Presidency, followed by the BiH Ministry of Defence and the BiH Joint Staff in the chain of command.
The BiH Armed Forces have around 10,000 professional military personnel, around 5,000 personnel in reserve, as well as around 1,000 civilian employees.
During November, the Days of the Armed Forces of BiH were marked in several cities in BiH with military parades and other events, writes NAP.
