During 2014, ten citizens of Sarajevo filed lawsuits against the City of Sarajevo seeking compensation for damages due to stray dog bites, which could cost the City more than 25,000 KM, writes the BH News Agency Patria.
Out of ten cases, in only one was the case concluded with a Decision on withdrawal of the lawsuit, at the request of the plaintiff. In this case, the defendants were also the Municipality of Novi Grad, Sarajevo Canton, and the City of Sarajevo.
The remaining nine cases are in the decision-making phase before the First Instance Court, and besides the City of Sarajevo, the injured parties also sued the Municipality of Centar, the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, the Municipality of Stari Grad, and Sarajevo Canton.
According to the City of Sarajevo's Legal Representation Office, the City is held liable on a solidarity basis because it is a co-signatory to two agreements on the construction and financing of animal shelters in Prača and Rakovića.
- Based on the lawsuits, potential total liabilities of the City amount to 25,911.99 KM, excluding court costs and default interest.
