Demining of location above the Klokot river supplying Bihać with drinking water completed

(Patria) - At the Željava Baljevac Airport location, six kilometers west of Bihać, the technical survey demining task carried out by demining teams of the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) "Bihać B" and "Livno B", the mechanical team with the PT 300 demining machine, and the POEK team has been completed.

The area of the task after re-survey was 123,898 m2 and was carried out in three sections; by the mechanical method with the PT 300 demining machine - 55,500 m2, by the manual technical survey method - 67,698 m2, and by the clearing method around found mines - 700 m2. During the work on this demining task, two mines (PROM 1) and two UXO items (M-75 hand grenade and M 80 rocket) were found. The destruction of the found ordnance was carried out by the FUCZ Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team "Bihać A".

The demined location is situated above the Klokot river, which supplies the city of Bihać with drinking water, and is of exceptional importance to the residents of the area. The location is also in close proximity to the state border with the Republic of Croatia, and the former "Željava" airport, which holds historical value and is of interest to the citizens of Krajina, BiH, and beyond. Additionally, this area is suitable for the development of agriculture and livestock farming.

By removing the mine threat from this location, the safe environment for numerous visitors and the local population has been expanded.
