SNSD delegates will come to the BiH PA but not to the emergency session of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA!?

We remind you that the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, Kemal Ademović (SNSD), scheduled an emergency session for Friday, February 16, at the request of six delegates, five from the Bosniak Caucus and Zlatko Miletić from the Croat Caucus.

The reason for scheduling the emergency session is an attempt to adopt the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, which is one of the so-called European laws, and SNSD delegates rejected the emergency procedure for adopting this law on January 31.

Although Ademović asked for immediate harmonization, the Collegium member Dragan Čović refused.

A delegation from Moneyval is visiting BiH, and they will prepare a report at the end of this month, based on which it will be assessed whether BiH will end up on the FATF grey list.

The EU Delegation has called on the House of Peoples to adopt this law by February 16 so that it can enter into force before the Moneyval Committee completes its report.

On the other hand, the arrival of delegates from the HDZ is also questionable, given that Čović links this law to a package of other laws that the EU requires from BiH (Law on Courts, Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest, and Čović also added the Election Law).

Given that the state coalition has not yet reached an agreement on the Election Law, it is questionable whether the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering will be adopted at tomorrow's session.

Delegate Džemal Smajić told Patria that he has already heard information that such a scenario is possible, where the absence of SNSD delegates will block the holding of the session.
