(Patria) - The House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina concluded its session where it adopted a set of veteran laws, which will enter into force the day after their publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH, thereby increasing benefits for veterans and their families by 3.25 percent for the period July-December 2024.
The set of veteran laws concerns amendments to three laws: the Law on the Rights of Demobilized Veterans and their Families, the Law on Special Rights of Recipients of War Decorations and Medals and their Families, and the Law on the Rights of Veterans and their Families. These amendments were necessary due to the need to harmonize the base for calculating monetary benefits for the veteran population after the entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance.
Thus, the base for veteran benefits will now be harmonized according to the regulations governing the area of Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO).
In this way, members of the veteran population will receive increased monetary benefits in September for August and retroactively for July.
For the implementation of the law on demobilized veterans, an increase in the budget of 698,000 KM is foreseen, for the law on recipients of war decorations, an increase of 289,000 KM, and for the law on the rights of veterans and their families, an increase of 2.5 million KM.
After the adoption of these laws, the remaining items on the agenda of today's session of the House of Peoples were withdrawn, and the session was concluded.
