(Patria) - A delegation of the Government and Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) visited landslides in the Zenica settlements of Orahovica and Vranduk today.
The delegation was led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and the Speaker of the ZDK Assembly Ćazim Huskić, accompanied by the directors of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration Džavid Aličić and the Institute for Health and Food Safety Zenica Muamer Mandra.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the situation on the ground and talk to local residents who pointed out the problems caused by the landslides.
- Following the residents' letters, we decided to visit the site and assess the situation regarding the mentioned landslides. We need the opinion of geologists to get expert recommendations and determine if a project for the landslide in Orahovica has been previously prepared. We cannot talk about concrete measures until we have reviewed the complete documentation - said Prime Minister Pivić.
Regarding Vranduk, it is a landslide located not far from the medieval fortress, in a cemetery containing graves. The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration explained that preventive measures need to be taken to prevent further spread of the landslide.
In Orahovica, it concerns the road and the ground along the road, where the landslide threatens the safety of residents and their property. It is a larger and more complex landslide.
The Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration, Džavid Aličić, emphasized that the existing technical documentation will be checked, including any prepared project and geologist's recommendations, although this is within the jurisdiction of the City of Zenica, after which further steps regarding remediation will be defined.
