UNDP Delegation Visits ZDK: Talks on New Cantonal Hospital and Joint Projects

(Patria) - UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Renaud Meyer and Project Manager Nasir Nalić visited the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) today, where they met with Cantonal Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and Minister of Economy Samir Šibonjić.

Discussions focused on past cooperation, as well as significant projects that both sides could jointly implement for the benefit of ZDK citizens.

Prime Minister Pivić thanked UNDP for past cooperation and informed the guests about the development priorities defined by the ZDK Government.

- We are very satisfied with the cooperation with UNDP, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, when they significantly helped our citizens. This Government, appointed a year and a half ago, is committed to improving the situation in healthcare.



Our strategic goal is the construction of a new Cantonal Hospital with a capacity of 800 beds, which would be the largest hospital built in BiH after the war - said Pivić.

He added that there are numerous opportunities for UNDP to support projects related to the construction of this hospital.

Renaud Meyer, for whom this was his first official visit to ZDK, explained that UNDP works in five-year development cycles, and that a new cycle begins in 2026, which represents an ideal moment to discuss joint priorities and expectations.

- We have had many applications and discussions with authorities, the private sector, and civil society organizations. We have already conducted consultations in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Bihać, and today we are here in Zenica. We want to jointly find solutions that will benefit all citizens - said Meyer.
