Delegation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Austria on an Official Visit to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - At the invitation of the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a delegation of the Armed Forces
of the Republic of Austria, led by Chief of the General Staff General Rudolf Striedinger, paid an official visit to the AF BiH from April 8 to 9, 2026.

During the meeting of the two delegations, mutual satisfaction with the current level of bilateral military cooperation was expressed. The talks focused on further improving cooperation, with a special emphasis on continuing education at the Theresian Military Academy, and issues related to the LOGIS logistical information system in the AF BiH, ammunition and weapons storage and lifecycle management (MiMES), as well as the Republic of Austria's contribution within the DCBI initiative.

The engagement of Austria in the Western Balkans was also discussed, with a special focus on participation in the EUFOR mission in BiH. Opinions on the current security situation in the region were also exchanged during the meeting.

The Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, Lieutenant General Knežević, thanked for the continuous support of the extensive and mutually beneficial bilateral military cooperation and the readiness for its improvement. In the end, the interlocutors agreed that such high-level meetings provide an additional incentive for strengthening cooperation in the field of defense.

The delegation of the AF BiH, in addition to Lieutenant General Knežević, included: Brigadier Nebojša Stajić, Head of the Support Office of the Chief of the Joint Staff; Aidin Smailbegović, expert advisor in the Ministry of Defense of BiH; Brigadier Elvir Fišić, Head of the Finance and Budget Administration (J-8); Brigadier Zvonimir Duvnjak, Head of the Personnel Administration (J-1); Brigadier Emir Kadušić, Head of the Planning and Strategy Department (J-5); and Colonel Sulejman Mahmutović, Head of the Logistics Operations Department (J-4).
