EU delegation visits Armed Forces of BiH: Cooperation through European Peace Facility continues

(Patria) — The Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Armed Forces of BiH hosted a multi-day working visit by a delegation from the European Union's European Peace Facility (EPF) Committee, which took place from June 2 to 6.

The delegation from Brussels, consisting of about 60 members, stayed in Sarajevo with the aim of assessing the implementation of projects and the overall use of funds allocated through this significant European mechanism intended to enhance security capacities.

During the visit, the delegation toured the "Rajlovac" barracks, where they had the opportunity to directly familiarize themselves with the condition of equipment and assets donated to the Armed Forces of BiH through the first and second tranches of aid from the EPF. The visit provided insight into the results of European support to date, as well as the identification of needs and potential for continued cooperation.

A central working meeting was held at the BiH Armed Forces Home, where guests were welcomed by the Assistant Minister of Defence of BiH for International Cooperation, Zoran Šajinović, and his associates. Discussions focused on past results, challenges in implementing aid, and plans for the upcoming period.

As part of the program, the delegation was received at the "Rajlovac" barracks by the Commander of the Tactical Support Brigade of the BiH Armed Forces, Brigadier Elvir Faljić, and the delegation was led by Anita Sek-Pajić. She was accompanied by Colonel Nebojša Jovanović, Snježana Kreštalica from the Ministry of Defence of BiH, and Major Zoran Gaćeša from the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces.

During an informative briefing, Brigadier Faljić thanked the European Union for its ongoing support and assistance to the Armed Forces of BiH, and informed those present about the details of the implemented activities, particularly in the segment of donated equipment and vehicles through the EPF. The delegation had the opportunity to tour subordinate units in the barracks and learn about the results of demining activities, as well as the capacities of the BiH Armed Forces in the area of equipment and motor vehicles.

At the end of the visit, Brigadier Faljić expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized that this form of cooperation is a strong incentive for the further development and strengthening of the capacities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
