EU Delegation supported the unilateral move by HDZ and SNSD and welcomed the temporary opening of the new Gradiška Border Crossing

(Patria) - The EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed the opening of the new Gradiška Border Crossing, after the decision was made by HDZ's Deputy Minister of Security of BiH, Ivica Bošnjak.

The EU Delegation "welcomed the swift reaction" of the competent domestic authorities in approving the temporary solution.

"This will enable the new Gradiška Border Crossing to become operational, following problems with the existing border crossing due to the collapse of the bridge," they wrote on platform X.

They claim that the temporary opening will help alleviate bottlenecks, improve the flow of goods and passengers, and provide immediate relief to carriers and economic entities.

"At the same time, the temporary measure highlights the need to move without delay towards a sustainable, long-term solution that ensures the full and predictable functioning of the crossing and allows the new border infrastructure, built with the financial support of the EU, to achieve its intended economic and connectivity benefits," the EU Delegation in BiH stated.
