Dedić: We achieved our goal peacefully

Parents of children from Konjević Polje on October 9 last year began peaceful protests in Sarajevo in front of the Office of the High Representative in BiH (OHR) with only one demand, which was the introduction of a national group of subjects in the local primary school "Petar Kočić" in Konjević Polje for children of Bosniak nationality. For the BiH news agency Patria, one of the parents and returnees to Konjević Polje in RS, Vehid Dedić, speaks about these, as well as current protests.

- While we were protesting, we received offers from citizens to join us, but precisely because we were afraid of unrest, we thanked them and for that reason we did not want to gather in large numbers. We came to seek a solution to our problems peacefully and we condemn the violence that occurred in Sarajevo – states Dedić.

According to Dedić, the parents from Konjević Polje support, but "only peaceful protests and peaceful gatherings, without burning and destruction."

Dedić adds that citizens have trusted politicians for years, but now they "expect something in return, and that is a dignified life."

Today, the educational process for 96 Bosniak children takes place in a makeshift facility in Nova Kasaba.

- In any case, their conditions are better than they were in the school in Konjević Polje. Our children have instructions, they study a group of national subjects, they work according to the curriculum of Sarajevo Canton, and at the end of the year, they will take exams for these subjects in Sarajevo – Dedić stated.
