(Patria) - The days of commemorating the Srebrenica genocide are about to begin, with memorial events planned across the UK, as announced by the Bosnia UK Network.
"This year's commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide will be held at the Guildhall of St. Mary in Coventry. The BH UK Network and its member, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Association of Coventry, in cooperation with the charity 'Remembering Srebrenica' and Coventry City Council, are organising the commemoration for the second consecutive year, and we hope it will become a traditional activity of Coventry City Council.
The theme for 2019, 'Bridging the Divide: Confronting Hatred', aims to inspire people to stand up to those who want to divide communities, celebrate those who build bridges between communities, and change attitudes and behaviours in others to go out and build their own bridges. This theme was chosen because it has never been more important to empower people to confront hatred in their communities and build bridges that help create a stronger, better, and more cohesive society.
The programme will include testimonies from survivors alongside children's reflections on confronting hatred. We hope you will join us for an important evening of remembrance, inspiration, and unity. Everyone is welcome and admission is free," it was stated.
