Today at NUL BiH, reading books to save the library

(Patria) - A reading of books to save the library will be held today at 3:00 PM at the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Council of Employees of NUL BiH invites all citizens, writers, publishers, and everyone who cares about the survival of this institution to join this event.

– Today we are also marking the 79th anniversary of the founding of NUL BiH, but we are facing serious problems. The library is on the verge of closure due to unresolved legal and financial issues, and services have been suspended since October 8, 2024. Employees are entering their third month without salary, health insurance, and without management structures (director, management, and supervisory boards) – states the press release from the Council of Employees of NUL BiH.

It is added that the situation is further complicated by a warning for electricity disconnection, and the operation of the COBISS (Cooperative Online Bibliographic System and Services) system is also in question due to the inability to pay bills to the Institute of Information Sciences (IZUM) from Maribor, which is the developer of organizational solutions and software for the COBISS system.
